Are you passionate about reducing and preventing rough sleeping in Newham? Are you seeking an opportunity to develop a career in the homelessness sector, working in a role where you can have a crucial part in supporting people to overcome barriers and move on to lead a fulfilling life?
NEWway Project is a Newham based charity, set up to support single adults facing homelessness in our borough. We believe that people thrive in situations providing purpose and belonging. We seek to be a place of safety, providing inclusive, person-centred, and supportive environments, where we can learn and grow together.
NEWday is a commissioned day service, based in East Ham, for adults with no dependents who are experiencing homelessness in Newham. Alongside the provision of essentials such as food, clothing, showers, and laundry, we are a hub for a range of advice and health services. Our advisors support guests with casework and care plans, housing options, welfare benefits and debt advice, and complete assessments for our winter night shelter. We also work with partners on-site who deliver a range of health assessments and interventions, dental treatment, immigration advice, substance misuse support and employment, education and training advice.
We have TWO exciting job opportunities at our day centre.
1) As a NEWday Front of the House person, you will be the first point of contact when a guest comes to NEWday. You will need to have a person-centred approach, good observational skills, and be well-organised. You will provide front of house support, making sure those who come to our day services in Newham are welcomed and our offers of food, laundry, showers and the overall environment are delivered to a high standard.
2) As a NEWday Caseworker, you will be involved in the assessment, advice, and advocacy of those who attend our day services. You will also work closely with colleagues in our commissioned integrated partnership, including outreach and accommodation services. You will also ensure that guests access a full range of activities and offers that help them belong to a community and contribute to their overall wellbeing.
Both roles will be based in our day centre in East Ham, with opening hours 8.30am-2.30pm, Monday to Friday. You will have additional paid hours to work flexibly on admin tasks.
Please apply by sending your CV and a Cover Letter which address the Personal Specification and Job Description. Please note we will NOT accept any applications without a Cover Letter.
